Assessment

Assessment is at the heart of effective Science teaching and is completed by the class teacher at the end of each half term unit focussing on Scientific knowledge and Scientific enquiry, using the Foundation assessment forms. 

We assess using the key skills and knowledge that have been outlined in each unit of learning, pupils self- assess and teachers make assessments at the end of each unit. This can be in the form of a unit quiz, starter questions at the beginning of each lesson, through oracy, including pupil conferencing. This ensures that any gaps are identified and revisited accordingly 

At the end of each Key Stage (1 and 2) teachers submit data collected to inform a SATs teacher assessment grade. 

Information about the pupils Science learning throughout the year is commented on and shared with parents in an annual report on the child.
